People and Planet, the leading student campaign group, has included reference to trade union initiatives, such as Climate Solidarity, within the criteria for their influential Green League table of UK universities (section 7 - student and staff engagement). The Green League survey has just been sent to all UK universities, and the results will be published in the Times Higher Education in June. 

Meanwhile, the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) have shown their support for Climate Solidarity in their Carbon Reduction Strategy in Higher Education Statement of Policy. Paragraph 78 describes Climate Solidarity as an example of an initiative which can help university staff to act on climate change.

Both of these steps should help UCU members to put the case to their institutions of the value of the Climate Solidarity approach.
